Sky’s the Limit

Stationary Collection

Created in Adobe Illustrator

This is a collection of stationary prototypes for a self-initiated project in which I explored how I could apply my illustration to a product. An atmospheric theme suits stationary by inspiring and reminding someone that the “sky’s the limit” to their goals and dreams, which may be written down on a memo pad, or to mark an inspirational page in a book.

The Heist of Ruby Ridge

7.5” x 9.5” each

Watercolor illustrations, formatted in Indesign

“The Heist of Ruby Ridge” is an experimental artist book, in that it takes on a non traditional book format. Its form is inspired by a pencil roll up, where in this case, the roll up is a “mail bag” and instead of holding pencils, it holds letter scrolls. The hand sewn fabric and pockets act as the “binding” and the letters act as the “pages.”

The book is an epistolary novel where the story is told through letters written by one or more characters. Ruby Ridge is an imagined story world of anthropomorphic animals which live within and underground forrest ledges. The village’s export is primarily rubies which are mined from surrounding ledges and traded for provisions with other communities outside the forest.

Through the letters and documents, the characters of Ruby Ridge are trying to determine who might be the culprit of a jewel heist from the mine’s reserve. The mystery isn’t meant to be solved but used as a way to reveal the characteristics of the story world and the personalities of the animals.
