Caroline Harpring’s Wildflower Friends Coloring Book is a warm and inviting coloring book with lovely scenes for coloring. Harpring has drawn all the illustrations in this coloring book, and each wildflower has its own personality and a uniquely sweet facial expression. The flowers are engaged in an activity in every scene. Their joy and playfulness make us want to step into their little world to join them, but alas, we must be content with adding color to it.
Harpring’s illustrations encourage both children and adults to use their imaginations and think about what goes on in their secret little lives, and they are very enjoyable to color. They offer a good balance between large spaces for young children and smaller, more complex spaces for older children and adults.
Caroline Harpring has included 25 varieties of wildflowers in her coloring book. My daughter learned the name of each flower and now recognizes the different wildflowers on each page. The paper quality is excellent and works well with crayons, colored pencils, and markers. Since the pages are single-sided, there is no worry over bleed-through onto the next illustration.
